Elder James D. Davis
Elder James Davis currently serves as the Pastor of Christian Memorial C.O.G.I.C., Albany, NY. He is the Superintendent of District #8 which comprises eight churches. He serves under the leadership of Bishop James R. Wright, Sr., Jurisdictional Prelate of New York Western Ist Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction and is a member of the Bishop’s Council and Chairman of the Executive Board.
Elder Davis was miraculously saved in 1964 and attended St. John’s C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of the late Pastor John Johnson. He served in various capacities such as Sunday School Teacher, Y.P.W.W. President, Assistant Church Treasurer, and Junior Deacon. He was called to the ministry in 1970. He began serving as Pastor of Christian Memorial in 1987.
Elder Davis is in his forty-third year of marriage to the former Ms. Linda Marie Graham. They have three grown sons and three grandsons and one granddaughter. Elder Davis has pastored Christian Memorial Church for the past 23 years. He relinquished his position as a Manager at Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation in 1994, after 26 years of service, to engage in full-time ministry. He was appointed as a District Superintendent in 1995 by the late Bishop LeRoy Anderson, former Presiding Prelate of Western NY Jurisdiction #1. He served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Christian Men’s Network founded by the late Dr. Edwin Louis Cole, the father of the Men’s Movement, and author of Maximized Manhood.
Elder Davis is highly respected in the community, among other ministers, and within the brotherhood of the Church of God in Christ. He has a heart for men to be maximized in their manhood. An average of 100 men attend a monthly men’s breakfast that he sponsors at the church. This year he sponsored the 19TH Capital District’s Maximized Manhood Retreat – This Annual Men’s Retreat is second to none.
He is the CEO of PLS Development Corporation. This is the non-profit arm of the church where he is working to change the community around the church. This is being done through property acquisition, land development and programs.
These are but a few of his achievements. He is a leader, a teacher, a man of integrity, anointed of God to speak prophetically to the men and women of this generation.
